About Steven Mintz
I’m a professor emeritus from Cal Poly. I hold a Doctor of Business Administration degree from The George Washington University. During my years of teaching I developed an expertise in ethics including ethics in society, the workplace, and on social media. After retiring from Cal Poly, I turned to blogging under the name, Ethics Sage. I write three award winning blogs and dispense guidance through my Workplace Ethics Advice blog. Increasingly, I have become concerned about the decline of civility in society and a kind of ethical blindness that challenges us to be good people and make our community a better place for all through kindness and good deeds. Along those lines, I have recently written a book titled Beyond Happiness and Meaning: Transforming Your Life Through Ethical Behavior.

Title of the Presentation: Bringing Back Ethics and Civility to Society
We have lost our moral compass. The behavior of some of our leaders and others in the public arena and on social media has created a void where ethical decision-making used to be. We no longer know how to communicate with each other and that has hastened the decline of civility in society. The problem is all too many people have “blind spots” where ethics is concerned. The question is can we regain our ethical footing? The answer is complicated because, as this presentation will show, there are different interpretations about just what ethics is, how it is determined, and why is it important to our well-being.
