The opening concert of the chamber series begins, appropriately, with a lyrical and sunny Mozart string quintet. The following concertino by Schulhoff shows the composer’s love of folk music, including references to Carpathian folk songs and the Moravian flute-seller’s call on the streets of Prague. The final piece, by Ravel, was his first and only string quartet, and alludes to his Spanish heritage.
