Ana Lisa Hedstrom is a world-renowned textile artist best known for her contemporary adaptations of shibori. The San Luis Obispo Museum of Art is honored to present Folded and Flat: Shibori by Ana Lisa Hedstrom from March 3 – April 30, 2017. Hedstrom’s thoughtful and inventive artwork features an amalgam of homemade natural and indigo dyes on kozo paper, textiles, and assembled wool felt.
Hedstrom’s textiles are included in the collections of major museums, including the Cooper Hewitt, the Museum of Art and Design, and the De Young Museum. Her work has been exhibited and published internationally. She has taught and lectured at numerous international shibori conferences and schools. Her awards include top prize in Shibori at the World Expo and two NEA grants; she is a fellow of the American Craft Council.
