History Center SLO Presents: Inaugural Carnegie Lecture

250th Anniversary of Portola Expedition Arrival in Central Coast

In early September 1769, local Native Americans encountered a large expedition of Europeans for the first time- the Portola Expedition. Phil Tillman will present an illustrated lecture that brings to life that momentous “first contact,” based on contemporary accounts of the expedition.
