Connect to your community as a volunteer through Hospice SLO County, a non-medical volunteer hospice serving the county for over 40 years!
We welcome Volunteer Candidates to a month-long training where they will learn about Hospice SLO County and the ways we serve the community through our services. This training will prepare volunteers to provide comfort, respite, companionship and practical assistance to individuals who are coping with a life-limiting illness. We will focus on end-of-life issues, communication, family dynamics and grief, situational coaching, stress management, dementia and a look at our own perspective and beliefs surrounding death.
No specific skill nor professional background is required – just a compassionate heart, a little time and willingness to have your life changed.
Training will take place in October on Mondays (10/2, 10/9, 10/16, 10/23 & 10/30) and two select Thursdays (10/12 & 10/26), 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. There is no fee for this training.
Preregistration is required. Space is limited.
