See SLO’s newest boutique luxury property and meet the Hotel Operators behind it
The long-anticipated and luxurious Hotel Cerro is now open to guests, but this boutique space didn’t build itself. Two of the five distinct partners behind downtown SLO’s newest property are Beverley and Shaun Matthews, the boots on the ground, creative operators whose visionary eye also helped shape some of the most renowned destinations across the globe.
Having developed several landmark international properties, Beverley and Shaun Matthews are well-known in hospitality circles. But despite working and living in some of the world’s most desirable destinations, the couple has decided to make sunny San Luis Obispo their permanent home as partners on the Hotel Cerro project.
Join us at this Insight Studio to hear more about the Matthews’ fascinating background and get a first look inside the long-awaited hotel.
After a conversation with the Matthews in the stunning, indoor-outdoor Olive Tree Room, property tours will give you a chance to see the hotel’s edible garden, rooftop pool, full-service spa and sophisticated suites.
The conversation will be from 4:30 to 6 p.m., and the tours will follow from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Meet the Matthews:
As graduates of Henley College hotel school in the U.K., Beverley and Shaun Matthews began their careers in the field of high-end hospitality as a team. Starting with island projects including Sir Richard Branson’s private island resort, the pair honed their skills with stints at Aman Resorts and their own boutique property in the Cotswolds, U.K. Beverley and Shaun went on to establish and manage the North American hideaway, Twin Farms, Vermont, which earned its Mobil Five-Star status in just its second year of operation and went on to achieve multiple accolades including the Zagat number one rated hotel in the U.S. With their most recent project of Hotel Cerro, the couple has decided to make San Luis Obispo their permanent home.
