Your community newspaper brought to life.
Good Morning SLO is our platform for sharing ideas, news and inspiration. A monthly program that brings community leaders, business owners, nonprofit executives and staffers together, and enables us to reconnect, engage and learn from each other.
Our goal is to provide insight into business, community and legislative issues and share the stories of those making a difference. We want audience members to leave with ideas and information about how to better their personal and professional lives.
Good Morning SLO happens on the fourth Thursday of every month except November when it is on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.

FEATURED SPEAKERS:
Helping a family navigate crisis in their home country to relocate to the United States isn’t easy, and sticking with them through the threats of housing insecurity here only further tests the limits of support. Lauren Brown will join us from SLO 4 Home to share how the organization maintains a long-term focus building community around relocated families to achieve resiliency and belonging.
Closing systemic gaps in service for individuals struggling with addiction is an essential component of helping people heal while mitigating community impacts. We’ve invited Good Samaritan’s Sylvia Barnard to share how the County’s newly established sobering center bridges that divide, providing a safe place for individuals to detox as they make their way into longer term care.
Every year, the SLO Museum of Art changes its colors with an exciting new mural. The 2024-2025 mural project will bring renowned American artist and muralist MOMO to San Luis Obispo to spend a few weeks painting the SLOMA building. MOMO will be joining us on stage to talk about his work, inspiration and what we can expect from this next mural.
Is your website accessible to those with disabilities? Does it need to be? Could you be sued over it? These are questions that your business needs to be asking. Emilie de la Motte, an attorney at Carmel & Naccasha, will be joining us to share her expertise in this field, why you need to pay attention to this discussion and changes you can make.
As news of technology-sparked garbage fires becomes more commonplace, we face the harsh reality that even when we think waste is managed, it can still cause dangerous pollution. Penny Lane Case will join us onstage from Nexstera Tech, this year’s AngelCon winner, to share how their system can remove batteries from the waste stream before they’re picked up.
DAMON CASTILLO & MELODY KLEMIN
We’ll round out the morning with a sneak peek from Melody Klemin and Damon Castillo ahead of their August 16 Concerts in the Plaza show. Concerts in the Plaza is the largest free concert series on the Central Coast, running until September 6, 2024 in Mission Plaza.
