Your community newspaper brought to life.
Good Morning SLO is our platform for sharing ideas, news and inspiration. A monthly program that brings community leaders, business owners, nonprofit executives and staffers together, and enables us to reconnect, engage and learn from each other.
Our goal is to provide insight into business, community and legislative issues and share the stories of those making a difference. We want audience members to leave with ideas and information about how to better their personal and professional lives.
Good Morning SLO happens on the fourth Thursday of every month except November when it is on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.
March Speakers
THE LOCAL COST OF GLOBAL CHAOS
Tariffs, geopolitical conflict, rising oil prices and ever increasing political tension is hitting close to home. Ryan Caldwell, Regional Director and Partner at EP Wealth Advisors, will join us to share what this chaos means for local business decision-making and market stability here in SLO County.
BETTING ON THE NEXT BIG THING
Great ideas deserve great fuel, and Cal Poly’s AngelCon startup funding competition is exactly that. Jake Daniels, co-founder of GreenSight Technologies, will share about his company and their experience competing in last year’s AngelCon, and why you’ll want to be in the room when the next wave of local innovators pitch their futures this year.
THE ART OF SHOWING UP
One of the most powerful things about your SLO Chamber is the connections it creates, and few people have leaned into that more intentionally than Ryan Blevins. Ryan, a Chamber Ambassador, has had tremendous success building meaningful relationships and will join us onstage to share how he did it and why connecting the business community makes this place special.
DECADES ON THE AIR
Fifty years in radio is a remarkable thing, and Frank Lanzone has spent them shaping the sound and soul of this community as President and General Manager of KCBX Public Radio. As he steps into retirement, Frank will reflect on his extraordinary career and offer his vision for the future of public radio and its vital local reach.
FAMILIES FINDING THEIR FOOTING
Every child deserves a safe place to sleep and every parent deserves a moment to breathe. Stephanie Potter and Tess Davis Cheek will join us from ECHO Shelter to share about their exciting new project to bring a dedicated Family Wing to the shelter, adding 30 new beds and creating safe, stable spaces where families in our community can start fresh and find their footing.
LONG LIVE THE LOCAL STORY
They say print is dead, but Meghan Burkhardt didn’t get the memo, and SLO is better for it. As owner of SLO Life Magazine, Meghan will share her experience taking the helm of the beloved local publication and its success at a time when many in the industry are folding, proving that great stories told well will always find an audience in San Luis Obispo.
AARON BURKHARDT
Right after Meghan’s time onstage, we will be serenaded by Aaron Burkhardt, co-owner of SLO Life Magazine and Meghan’s husband! A local singer-acoustic guitar player, Aaron has enjoyed playing live on the Central Coast for more than 10 years. He plays a wide range of covers from classics to contemporary, all in a mellow, stripped down, acoustic style.
