We can’t wait to see you at Good Morning SLO!
May’s Topics Include:
With the slogan “We build really cool stuff”, Next Intent is a local company producing, well, really cool stuff. Courtney Grewohl, Next Intent’s CFO, will join us to share more about the business, the work they’re doing, and the products they’re manufacturing, including the wheels of the Mars Rover, which traveled 140 million miles away, but started that journey here in SLO!
The Gala Pride & Diversity Center has been supporting SLO County’s LGBTQIA+ community for decades, and Central Coast Pride is fast approaching. Linnaea Valdivia, Gala Program Manager, will join us to share about what the organization has been working on, what’s in store for June as Pride Month, and what’s coming down the pipeline.
Angelcon 2026 put some incredible entrepreneurial pursuits onstage competing for startup funding. Ecoplasticity won the Audience Choice Award, and Co-Founder Mayela Fernandez will be onstage to talk about their solution to single-use packaging: coating made from seaweed to create food packaging that is compostable, recyclable and free from harmful chemicals. Come learn how Mayela and her team are making compostable actually compostable!
The 2026 SLO County Housing Summit brought more than 300 people together to dive into SLO County’s housing crisis and how we can tackle it. Jessica Goswick, architect, housing advocate and Housing Summit planning committee member will join us to share key takeaways from the event and what our region needs to be doing to get more units online. If you weren’t able to attend the Housing Summit, Jessica will deliver the high points from this vital discussion in our community.
30 YEARS OF CONCERTS IN THE PLAZA
Mission Plaza is always the hub of downtown, but in the summer, Downtown SLO’s Concerts in the Plaza live music series takes it up a notch. Maggie Kovach and Rachel Lackmann will join us from Downtown SLO to talk about this year’s lineup and special programming coming this season to celebrate Concerts in the Plaza’s 30 year anniversary. Come learn how your Friday evenings are about to become so much more entertaining and fun!
Nour Makhoul, president of the Alpha Gamma Sigma Honors Society, just earned her A.S. in Computer Science and A.A. in Mathematics after immigrating to the United States as a Syrian refugee just three years ago. She’ll join us onstage to share her Cuesta story and highlight the transformative impact Cuesta College has on students’ lives. Few topics reach deeper into the heart of your Chamber than hearing about students thriving in our local education system, so bring a tissue for your tears of joy!
We’ll close out the morning with some exciting live theatre. PCPA will present their summer season in Solvang and Santa Maria with a live performance by the remarkable Katie Hughes!
Your community newspaper brought to life.
Good Morning SLO is our platform for sharing ideas, news and inspiration. A monthly program that brings community leaders, business owners, nonprofit executives and staffers together, and enables us to reconnect, engage and learn from each other.
Our goal is to provide insight into business, community and legislative issues and share the stories of those making a difference. We want audience members to leave with ideas and information about how to better their personal and professional lives.
Good Morning SLO happens on the fourth Thursday of every month except November when it is on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.
