On February 6, we will be welcoming the following presenters:
• John Roncoroni, Weed Science Farm Advisor, UC Cooperative Extension, to discuss “Updates on Herbicides and Alternatives Methods of Weed Control”
• Dr. Brad Hanson, UC Davis, Cooperative Extension Department of Plant Sciences to discuss “How Roundup Works on Weeds and How it Reacts in the Soil Environment ”
About John Roncoroni:
John received a BS from UC Davis in Environmental Policy Analysis and Planning, with an emphasis in Agriculture. In 1999 he received his MS from UC Davis in Horticulture. John started working in Weed Control as a Research Associate at UC Davis in 1983. He became UC Cooperative Extension Weed Science Farm Advisor in Napa County in March of 2007. John specializes in orchard and vineyard floor management – Weed Control and Cover cropping in Northern California from the Delta to the Mendocino Coast. He has also worked with growers on the Central Coast and Sierra foothills. John is an affiliate advisor with the UC IPM program working with pomology and viticulture Farm Advisors throughout Northern California on Weed issues. John has been working on the control of herbicide tolerant and resistant weeds including panicle willowherb, horseweed, hairy fleabane and annual ryegrass.
About Dr. Hanson:
Dr. Hanson, an associate Cooperative Extension specialist in the Department of Plant Sciences, specializes in weed management in tree and vine cropping systems. Hanson completed his Ph.D. in plant sciences (with an emphasis in weed science) at the University of Idaho and worked as a research agronomist with the USDA-ARS before joining the UC Davis faculty in 2009.
All growers, vineyard managers, and interested members are welcome to attend.
