The City of San Luis Obispo’s Utilities Department has an exciting opportunity for community members who want to see a cleaner, greener, more sustainable SLO and take action! The Utilities Department’s Solid Waste & Recycling Program seeks volunteers to serve as Recycle Right Volunteers—community advocates for recycling, organics, and waste reduction.
Volunteers are trained to be sustainability coaches at the Downtown SLO Farmers’ Market on select Thursday evenings. Their role is to guide the public on how to properly sort waste—especially organics—into the City’s new organics green carts. This simple action helps keep food scraps and other compostable materials out of the landfill, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and supporting the City’s Climate Action goals.
Seven volunteers needed for 12/4 from 5:30 – 9:30 pm
