Why Walk?
The money raised through the Heart & Stroke Walk funds research, and initiatives that promote the prevention, treatment and better patient care in the areas of cardiovascular disease and stroke, the number one and four killers in the United States. The American Heart Association is the nation’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to building healthier lives, free of heart disease and stroke.
How long is the walk?
Participants can choose to walk the 5K (3.1 mile event) along the Bob Jones Trail or in the Stroke Miracle Mile near the Avila Beach Promenade.
Can I run the 5K route?
Yes, participants are more than welcome to run the 5K route. We ask that you move to the front of the starting line so that you are ahead of the walkers. Click here for a route map
What is the Stroke Miracle Mile?
The Stroke Miracle Mile is an alternate one mile, clearly marked loop course where stroke survivors along with their friends and family can choose to walk at any pace and any distance they choose. The Stroke Miracle Mile kicks off promptly after the 5k course.
