What is it? Candidates for SLO County Supervisor District 5 and District 3 and United States Representative, 24th District will be in attendance for our third Candidate Forum. We are excited for an informed, civil & engaged conversation leading up to the March election.

Why attend? It’s going to be the best way to learn who’s who and what’s what. There will be formal speaking portions to book end a night of speed dating with the candidates.

What to expect? You sit and the candidates rotate from table to table. Ask whatever you want; however, we are honoring the Code of Civility for this forum. So as always, please join us in the spirit of civility with mindful dialogue to communicate your ideas.

We will update with a full list of candidates in attendance as it gets closer. Stay tuned!

Thank you to our Sponsor:
We encourage you to come early or stay late to get food and drinks at the bar at Madonna Inn. Madonna Inn has graciously donated this space in support of SLOU40 and we are grateful to them for their continued support. Help us say thank you!

Not Your Parents’ Candidate Forum

San Luis Obispo, CA— Voters are invited to get to know local candidates for office in a speed-dating style forum tonight at the Madonna Inn Garden Room at 6:00 PM. With the goal of facilitating mindful dialogue and educating the electorate, attendees are encouraged to ask candidates whatever questions they want, providing the interaction honors the Code of Civility.

The third of such forums hosted by SLO U40, the “speed-dating” format produces dialogue that deviates from candidates’ standard stump speeches and gives voters rare face-to-face access to the candidates vying for their vote. Seated at round tables, candidates spend a specified amount of time fielding questions from attendees. When time is up, candidates rotate to the next table and repeat the process, allowing each attendee to connect directly with candidates and get their most pressing questions answered.

Voters will have the opportunity to engage directly with the following candidates for office:

  • Andy Caldwell, United States Representative, 24th District
  • Kenneth Young, United States Representative, 24th District
  • Stacy Korsgaden, Board of Supervisor 3rd District
  • Adam Hill, Board of Supervisor 3rd District
  • Ellen Beraud, Board of Supervisor 5th District
  • Debbie Arnold, Board of Supervisor 5th District

The forum is free to attend; however, space is limited, and SLO U40 candidate forums have a history of “selling out.” RSVPs and early arrival are encouraged, as the forum begins promptly at 6:00 PM.

About SLO U40: SLO U40 acts as a conduit for education, engagement, and action relating to the community. SLO U40 is a non-partisan and non-affiliated organization that brings together passionate people who are driven to improve how we all live, work, and play on the Central Coast.
