THE BLUES ARE BACK IN TOWN!
June 15 was an important date for more reasons than one. Alongside the State’s reopening, the San Luis Obispo Blues held their first home game in nearly two years. In celebration of their return, Adam Stowe, General Manager and Owner of Blues Baseball, will share with us what to expect from the 2021 season.

WAVES OF HEALING
Local nonprofit, AmpSurf, recently teamed up with the Women’s Veterans Surf Project for a surf clinic aimed at bringing healing to various traumas, including sexual assault, domestic violence and combat-related trauma. Dana Cummings, Founder & President of AmpSurf, will share how the program uses ocean therapy to work through easing trauma.

PRIDE AND PURPOSE
For the first time in 25 years, Pride festivities kicked off in May, a month early on the Central Coast. Ambassador and Chair of Central Coast Pride, Ila Moncrief, will share the genesis behind moving the celebrations up and how doing so further increased visibility and connection for the LGBTQIA+ community.

SHOOT FOR THE MOON TO CURE CANCER
As diligence and innovation in medicine resulted in record setting development of COVID-19 vaccines, we can’t help but wonder what other illnesses can be cured next? The first practice in California to join the federal Cancer Moonshot program was Arroyo Grande’s PCR Oncology, and Dr. David Palchak will give a peek behind the curtain into the huge effort to cure cancer.

RETURNING TO THE OLD NORMAL?
As we emerge from more than a year of disruption, nearly everyone is searching for the optimal return-to-workplace strategy. Michael Gunther, Founder and Managing Partner of Collaboration Business Consulting, will share key elements for a smooth transition and guidance for leaders as they design a path back to the office.

RECOVERING FROM THE ONE-IN-A-MILLION
In January, a local 11-year-old went from a backyard tree-swing to an emergency helicopter to Fresno’s Valley Children’s Hospital in just 48 hours. Writer, editor and teacher Sara Roahen, will share her family’s harrowing story and what she learned about recovery along the way.
