French Hospital Medical Center, a Dignity Health member along with Arroyo Grande Community Hospital and Marian Regional Medical Center, is pleased to have Dr. Armin Bandari, Cardiologist, attend this Wednesday’s Diabetes Support Group as a guest speaker.

All diabetic and interested Central Coast community members are invited to attend French Hospital’s Diabetes Support Group where Dr. Bandari will speak to attendees about the correlation between diabetes and heart disease. The diabetes support group meets this Wednesday, April 24, 2013, from 3 to 5 p.m. and the special guest speaker offering will take place between 4 and 5 p.m. in the French Hospital Auditorium located at 1941 Johnson Avenue, San Luis Obispo.

“There is a clearly defined relationship between diabetes and cardiovascular disease and it is critical for those with diabetes and caregivers for diabetics to understand the connection,” explains Dr. Bandari. “Heart disease is very common for diabetics and it is leading cause of early death among people with diabetes. Several recent advances in treating heart disease have improved the chances of surviving a heart attack or stroke, but as the incidence of diabetes continues to increase, so does the number of those with heart disease.”

Dr. Bandari is an experienced cardiologist with Coastal Cardiology. He is a graduate of Rush Medical College of Rush University and completed a residency through the Aurora Health Care Program.
