The San Luis Obispo Chamber’s longtime President and CEO Dave Garth was recently named a Life Member of the Western Association of Chamber Executives, the association’s highest honor.
“Dave exemplifies professionalism in chamber management and has done so much to lead our association and the chamber industry,” said W.A.C.E. President Dave Kilby.
Garth retired in 2011 after more than 38 years with the SLO Chamber. During that time he served as W.A.C.E. conference chair in 1987 and 1993; chairman of the W.A.C.E. board in 1989; was named Executive of the Year in 1991 and received the Pettit Award in 1995. From 2005 to 2011 Garth taught “Dealing with the Media” at the W.A.C.E. Academy and was a member of the Steering committee.
“Dave’s dedication to professional development – both personally and for others – truly catapulted the SLO Chamber to the leading edge organization that it is today and helped create new ideas to assist our members,” said Ermina Karim, SLO Chamber president and CEO. “Over his tenure, he secured every top honor in our industry, which is a testament to his impact.”
Garth has also received his Accredited Chamber Executive designation.
