Cal Poly born and San Luis Obispo raised iFixit is moving to a new location at 1330 Monterey St. after purchasing the Monterey Street Garage from Rob Rossi that most recently housed SLO Vespa. IFixit has established itself as a global leader in the past few years, providing repair manuals for thousands of different technology products and was recently featured in the Los Angeles Times. The new location will be the most recent step forward for the company that started with two employees in a dorm room in 2003 and has grown to 35. The new proposed location – on Monterey Street between Johnson Avenue and Pepper Street – will provide an additional 2,400 square feet of space from their current 14,800 square foot location at 81 Higuera St. The company plans to add a second story in the back of the building as well as two mezzanines between existing roof trusses and incorporate roof decks.
