John Ewan of Pacific Energy Company receives an award at the SolarWorld Installer’s Conference.

John Ewan of Pacific Energy Company (PEC), solar installer based in San Luis Obispo, has been recognized by SolarWorld, the largest U.S. solar manufacturer, for more than three decades of excellence in the field of solar installation.

Ewan, who founded PEC in 1980, received one of three SolarWorld Globe Awards for being one of the company’s longest-standing customers. PEC has continuously specified and sold SolarWorld product for off-grid and grid-tie solar systems throughout the Central Coast, from Big Sur to Santa Barbara for 33 years.

Ewan was one of more than 250 solar professionals from every region of the United States and nearby islands who convened for a summit meeting of SolarWorld’s elite network of Authorized Installers at the company’s manufacturing plant in Hillsboro, Ore., in September. The summit, titled “Stronger Together,” provided training for installers on SolarWorld’s robust marketing programs and broad product portfolio as well as meetings to plan for the ongoing success of the installer network.

“To become a SolarWorld Authorized Installer, a company must demonstrate high quality design and installation along with superior business practices,” said Rusty Pittman, head of marketing for SolarWorld. “John Ewan and PEC have epitomized these qualities for 33 years.”

“Year after year, I specify SolarWorld products for their consistent quality, high social standards, and ‘Made in the USA’ label,” Ewan said. “But when customers ask why I sell SolarWorld solar panels above all others, I also tell them it is the people, and my 33-year relationship with them, that assures a better product experience than any other manufacturer can present. This is the honest truth and no other solar-panel manufacturer can touch it.”
