Woods Humane Society encourages you to adopt and make it for life! June is National Adopt a Shelter Cat Month and Woods Humane Society is celebrating our 58th anniversary by reducing the adoption fee for all adult felines over 6 months of age and asking adopters to name your own price for the entire month.

Did you know there are proven benefits to owning cats? Besides having an adorable face to wake up to every morning, cats have been proven to help in many ways, such as lowering blood pressure, reducing stress and anxiety levels, improving moods, easing depression, reducing loneliness, and providing companionship.

Woods can help with finding your perfect match. For the past year, Woods has implemented the Meet Your Match Feline-ality Adoption Program of the ASPCA. By using the feline-ality assessor tests, the personality of each cat can be detected, whether it is a party animal, a sidekick, or a love bug. Then Woods can match what cat personality would best suit the adopter and his or her needs.

“The goal for every adoption is to find a loving home for our cats,” says Steve Kragenbrink, Woods community programs director. “The Feline-ality program helps us do that. It helps our adoption counselors match the expectations and lifestyles of the adopters with the behaviors and feline-alities of the cats.”

By adopting in June, Woods allows future cat-owners to choose the price for their new furry friend. Furthermore, each adoptable feline is already spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and micro-chipped prior to going home.
