The San Luis Obispo City Council established the Local Revenue Measure Advisory Committee on July 16. They are currently seeking members to serve on this important new advisory body. The applications are available at the front of their website here. The mission and responsibilities of the committee include:

1. Analyzing the City’s stewardship of Measure Y resources
2. Seeking community input regarding its preferences and local revenue measure spending priorities
3. Developing recommendations specific to the November 2014 General Election regarding alternatives for reauthorization of Measure Y, or the creation of a new revenue measure
4. Helping the City perform community outreach and education.

The application period is now open and the final day to submit an application is this Friday, August 16 at 5 p.m. Meetings are expected to begin in September and will continue through April 2014. The meetings will be conducted by a facilitator and will include informative presentations by City staff and opportunities for public comment and engagement.

The City Council is currently scheduled to select committee members during their meeting on September 3.
