For almost 70 years, Idler’s Home has been serving—and supporting—the Central Coast community. In 2021 alone, “Team Idler’s” has contributed more than $75,000 in appliances, furniture, fundraising prizes and monetary donations to communities from San Miguel to Santa Maria. See the slideshow with 2021’s community involvement here.

True to their mission, Idler’s Home not only provides the highest quality products and services to the community, but they are actively involved in local schools, sports, churches and charitable organizations. The Idler’s family leadership are all current Rotarians and also serve on several nonprofit boards.

One focus in the past year has been on food insecurity. This has become a bigger problem since the start of the pandemic, and Idler’s provided appliances to the SLO Food Bank to help. Hunger is a community problem, and the solution to this tragic public health issue is found in at the community level,” said SLO Food Bank CEO Garret Olson. “Thanks to donated equipment from Idler’s Home, nonprofits throughout San Luis Obispo County are able to keep food at a safe temperature for their hungry clients.” Idler’s responded to the Food Bank’s need for a freezer, and has also committed to the sustained giving program. “We are truly proud of and honored by our partnership with Idler’s Home,” Olson continued.

In addition to the SLO Food Bank, Idler’s Home has also supported more than two dozen other local organizations over the past three years. This includes sponsoring a service dog at New Life K9s, donating a complete kitchen to a new facility for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Mid Central Coast and at their new facility in Paso Robles, slated to be done Spring 2022. Other groups include the Mid-Coast Veterans Alliance, ECHOLumina AllianceFamily Care Network and 17 Strong, to name a few.
