Morro Bay’s Visitor Center and Tourism Bureau will host the grand opening of a new location at 255 Morro Bay Blvd. on Thursday Feb. 7. The public is invited to tour the center from 4-7 p.m. and meet new Executive Director Karin Moss and staff.
“The City of Morro Bay is extremely excited to welcome Karin Moss and celebrate the grand opening of the visitor center,” said Andrea Lueker, Morro Bay city manager.  “This will enable Morro Bay to take tourism to an even higher level.”

Opening the new visitor center and hiring of an executive director refocuses the direction of tourism in Morro Bay, creating an ideal opportunity for enhanced tourism marketing, public relations, brand management and guest experience.
“We used a platform for success that other communities are modeling in their tourism markets,” said Joan Solu, tourism bureau chair. “The visitor center is a key element and one of the many components to growing a successful tourism economy in Morro Bay.”
The city has experienced record growth in tourism over the past three years, providing over $2 million to the general fund from transient occupancy tax alone.
“Through consistent marketing efforts and the new focus, opportunity is great for tourism to provide additional support to the community,” Solu said. “We couldn’t be any more excited about spreading the word and inviting people in to ‘Discover Morro Bay.’”
