PathPoint, a non-profit organization helping people with disabilities and disadvantages live and work as valued members of our communities, announced that it recently received a charitable contribution from Heritage Oaks Bank, the largest publically owned and operated community bank headquartered on the Central Coast.
PathPoint’s mission is to provide comprehensive training and support services that empower people with disabilities or disadvantages to live and work as valued members of our communities. PathPoint’s partnership with Heritage Oaks Bank will support adaptive technology equipment, curriculum and sensory stimulation supplies for the educational needs of young adults with disabilities. The funds will go toward reading supplies, workbooks and group activities to build social skills, strategies to increase social skills, banking capability, awareness and healthy choices, exercises to enhance literacy and independent living skills. These funds will serve people with cerebral palsy, autism, Down syndrome and other disorders in PathPoint’s employment, residential and day programs in San Luis Obispo County.
PathPoint’s San Luis Obispo County Division currently serves 386 individuals. PathPoint offers a full spectrum of services including employment services, independent living services and community access programs. These services provide support and care that mutually reinforce the underlying goals of independence and community integration. By accomplishing these goals PathPoint participants are able to transition, wholly or in part, from a life of dependency to a more self-sufficient lifestyle.
Mr. Chris Sands, senior vice president at Heritage Oaks, recently awarded the generous contribution to PathPoint’s San Luis Obispo County Division located at 265 South Street, Suite H in San Luis Obispo. PathPoint also valued the expertise of Kristi Messina, assistant vice president/ marketing admin manager in facilitating the application process and communications. “We thank and applaud the corporate philanthropy of Heritage Oaks Bank,” noted Aline Graham, VP of San Luis Obispo County division.
