SLO Marathon 250The San Luis Obispo marathon, half marathon, and 5K presented by LeftLaneSports.com has launched registration for 2015, offering first year pricing of $110 for the marathon and $85 for the half marathon. The 4th annual event will take place on Sunday, April 26, 2015.

Athletes will experience a classic California race built around a historic mission, in the shadow of majestic morros, in the heart of wine country, and rich open farmland and ranches near the Pacific Ocean. The race has experienced perfect weather in the mid-60’s to low-70’s the first three years with thousands enjoying a big race experience with a small town vibe.

San Luis Obispo is often named on Top 10 lists by many travel and business publications as a destination in the U.S. to visit or live. It was named the friendliest city in North America in 2010 by author Dan Buettner of National Geographic and featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show. “The best way to see San Luis Obispo is on foot!” the race directors said.

The San Luis Obispo marathon and half marathon presented by LeftLaneSports.com takes runners through the town’s charming downtown corridor past the old Fremont Theatre, the historic Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa, through neighborhoods with classic Victorian and Craftsman bungalows, out into the rolling hills of the renowned Edna Valley vineyards and farm land, then back into the city center, past Railroad Square and onto the iconic Madonna Inn property for a spectacular downhill, panoramic finish in the shadow of Cerro San Luis. The marathon and half marathon take place on Sunday, April 26, 2015.

The 5K, children’s marathon challenge and children’s quarter mile dash is held on the Madonna Inn property on Saturday, April 25, 2015. The “Chase the Pig” 5K features a two-loop course and a spectacular downhill finish on the Madonna Inn property. The children’s marathon challenge lets participants progressively run 25-miles leading up to the 1.2-mile run on race weekend and each earns a medal for their effort. The children’s quarter mile dash is a great starter race for small children.

Registration is open. To register for the 5K, marathon, half marathon and children’s races, view course maps, volunteer or for additional SLO marathon information, please visit www.slomarathon.com/register.
