PFAC Sierra Vista

Meeting Of Support Group

Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center is seeking community members to serve on its Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC). The council is instrumental in sharing perspectives, feedback and solutions in an effort to improve the overall patient experience.

“The Patient and Family Advisory Council is vital to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center. We believe partnering with patients and families directly improves the planning, delivery and outcome of healthcare, which is the key to quality, compassionate patient care,” said Bridgette Bateman, RN, Chair of the PFAC. “Input and involvement from the communities we serve provides important feedback that is utilized in our processes to provide exceptional care.”

The council is comprised of members from San Luis Obispo County communities and acts as a communication bridge between the hospital, staff, patients and families.

Council members have the opportunity to offer advice, information and recommendations on planning, policies and procedures to the Sierra Vista team. Their input provides the team with an enhanced understanding of how to improve quality, program development, service excellence, patient safety, facility design, patient education, family education, staff orientation, patient/family satisfaction and loyalty.

The advisory council meets on the fourth Wednesday of every month from 10-11:30 a.m. in the Administrative Conference Room at Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center. Members are expected to serve a two-year term with potential to renew or step down at the end of the term.

PFAC members are selected based upon the following criteria:

  • Ability to represent patient care experience
  • Willingness to work collaboratively and in an advisory role
  • Good listening and communication skills
  • Ability to interact well with differing groups of people and differing opinions
  • Respect of others’ perspectives
  • Positive, constructive attitude
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
