SLO BluesThe San Luis Obispo Blues have been a unique part of the central coast for almost 50 years. All those years of success for the team could not be possible without the generosity, willingness, and hospitality of host families.

Host Families are a crucial part of the Blues organization and their cooperation is critical for the team, and its players. Players come from all over the country and are new to the Central Coast. Each host family is required to provide each player with a private bed, and access to a kitchen, bathroom, and laundry. They are not required to provide internet, meals, or transportation but it is encouraged. The players are responsible for their own means of transportation and food. However, the family may choose to include the player in family meals/activities.

Players will need to be housed from roughly June 1 until the first week of August. host families may house more than one player if they wish. And while they cannot choose their player, the Blues do their very best to accommodate all requests.

Being a host family can also pay off in other ways. Each family that volunteers to be a host family will receive:

– Season tickets for each full-time resident of the household
– Twenty (20) food vouchers
– $200 housing fee for each player
– Choice of long-sleeve host family t-shirt; SLO Blues hat or Blues gloves/earband combo for each full-time household resident
– Reserved VIP Parking at all 2014 Blues home games
– One (1) free camp registration or a Blues summer camp
– Host family appreciation ceremony at the end of the season
– Private host family and player barbeque
– Host family appreciation plaque.

Not only will each host family receive all these benefits, but will likely foster and create a friendship with their players that could last far beyond the 2014 season.

Over the years host families have been thrilled with the manner of which the players present themselves. They are respectful and appreciate the privilege of being able to live with a local family during the season. They are also great role models for young children and are subject to any and all household rules.
