Salome Jordania is an extraordinary 16-year-old pianist from the Republic of Georgia in Eastern Europe. Salome and her conductor father Giorgi Jordania, of the Tbilisi State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, will join Michael Nowak and the San Luis Obispo Symphony on Saturday, March 16th at 8pm at the Christopher Cohan Center in a performance of Robert Schumann’s romantic Piano Concerto in A minor. This is Salome’s second visit to San Luis Obispo. In 2011, she performed with the San Luis Obispo Youth Symphony at the Cohan Center and was filmed in a teaching session with fellow Georgian and musical mentor Botso Korisheli, as part of the soon-to-be released documentary feature about the Morro Bay music teacher’s life.

Salome’s father, Giorgi Jordania, the general director of the Tbilisi State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, will conduct the orchestra for his daughter’s debut with the Symphony. Also on the musical program for the evening will be Kodaly’s Dances of Galánta and Variations on a Theme of Haydn by Johannes Brahms, both conducted by Maestro Michael Nowak.
Please Note: On Sunday, March 17th at 3 pm, Miss Jordania will share her talents in a solo recital for a smaller audience in a more intimate venue at Trinity United Methodist Church, 490 Los Osos Valley Road in Los Osos.
