The San Luis Obispo Symphony (SLO Symphony) will host an extravagant New Year’s Eve celebration on the Central Coast, giving guests an unforgettable way to ring in the New Year with style and sophistication.
Dubbed “New Year’s Eve by the Sea,” the event begins at 6:30 p.m. with an elegant champagne reception and culminates with the spectacular Symphonic Countdown to 2014 at 9 p.m. (midnight EST). Guests will have plenty of time to carry on the evening celebration with grand merriment before the clock strikes 12 here on the Central Coast.
“This event will be a delight for the eyes and ears, a visual and symphonic celebration that will inspire and enchant our guests,” said Lisa Nauful, SLO Symphony’s assistant executive director and communications director. “We are pulling out all the stops to make this a New Year’s Eve our audience will never forget.”
The audience will be treated to George Gershwin’s classic “Rhapsody in Blue” featuring renowned pianist Terrence Spiller, sultry gypsy tunes with violinist Bryn Albanese, and the music of Hammerstein and Ellington with distinguished vocalist and Central Coast native Sarah Kleeman. The Forbes Organ, played by Katya Gotsdiner-McMahan, will shake the rafters. A stunning visual performance from Suspended Motion Aerial Artists will complete the event, inspiring awe with every spin of their silks.
The pre-concert champagne reception at 6:30 p.m. includes the bubbly favorite and passed appetizers, followed by the night’s concert at 7:30 p.m. featuring popular music that each member of the audience will recognize.
In addition to the evening’s musical offerings, the SLO Symphony will hold a New Year’s Eve Getaway contest online. The prize will be a one-night stay at the Embassy Suites on December 31, as well as two tickets to the SLO Symphony concert and champagne reception, and a bottle of bubbly. The online contest will begin on December 6. For more details, Like the SLO Symphony on Facebook at www.facebook.com/slosymphony.
