Cuesta 170Cuesta College will host a first-of-its-kind Student Veteran Orientation for the nearly 300 veterans currently enrolled at the college. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, September 9, from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in the 5400 building on the San Luis Obispo Campus.

“Our veterans have served all of us, and this is our way of serving them,” said Vice President of Student Services Sandee McLaughlin. “Cuesta College is committed to the academic success of our veterans and active military members, and this event is in recognition of their service to our country and in support of their unique needs as students.”

The orientation will include information on veteran’s educational benefits and certification processes, as well as financial aid eligibility requirements. Counselors will be on-hand to discuss academic counseling sessions, the Disabled Student Programs and Services (DSPS) and the services provided by the recently renovated Veterans Resource Center, which is located on campus and serves as a gathering place for student veterans to connect and socialize.
