The Community Foundation San Luis Obispo County awarded a grant of $5,000 to Big Brothers Big Sisters to support the enrollment and matching of volunteer mentors with local vulnerable children.
“A Public-Private Ventures study found that children enrolled in Big Brothers Big Sisters programs are more likely than their peers to perform better in school, behave non-violently, avoid illegal drugs and alcohol, and have stronger family relationships,” said Anna Boyd-Bucy, Big Brothers Big Sisters executive director. “The Community Foundation is making that possible for local youth.”
