After a nation-wide search, Cuesta College Superintendent/President Gil Stork has selected Deborah Wulff as the finalist for Assistant Superintendent/Vice President for Academic Affairs and Sandee McLaughlin as the finalist for Assistant Superintendent/Vice President for Student Services. Wulff is currently serving as the Interim Vice President of Academic Affairs and McLaughlin is currently serving as the Interim Vice President of Student Services at Cuesta College. Next, Dr. Stork will recommend both be approved at the June 5, 2013, Board of Trustees meeting.
“You will not find anyone more committed to Cuesta College than Deborah Wulff,” said Dr. Stork. “She exemplifies the type of leader Cuesta needs to create the best learning experiences for our students. She has demonstrated strong leadership in leading Cuesta’s efforts in accreditation compliance and earned the respect of her colleagues and the community.”
“I am honored to serve as the vice president of academic affairs and I look forward to Cuesta’s continued excellence and future successes,” said Ms. Wulff.
Ms. Wulff has over 25 years of experience in the California community colleges and universities as a faculty member and administrator. Prior to her current appointment, she served as Dean of Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences, Math, Nursing/Allied Health, Kinesiology, Health Sciences, Recreation and Athletics since January 2008. Ms. Wulff will complete her course work for her Ed.D. in Organizational Leadership, at the University of La Verne in July. She is expected to complete her dissertation in September 2013. She has a Master’s degree in Education from United States International University, and Bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University. Ms. Wulff has a strong belief in and commitment to community service and serves as a member of the Rotary Day Break Club in San Luis Obispo.
“Sandee McLaughlin has a long history of service to the students at Cuesta College,” said Dr. Stork. “That consistency of leadership has been a great benefit to us and ultimately, to the students. Sandee is truly invested in bettering the lives of all students at Cuesta.”
“It is deeply gratifying to be a part of Cuesta College and experience the positive impact on people and the quality of life for our community,” said Ms. McLaughlin. “I am honored to assume this leadership position and am enthusiastic about the possibilities.”
In addition to currently serving as the interim Vice President of Student Services, Ms. McLaughlin has served Cuesta College since 1986 in the capacities of Financial Aid/EOPS Director, Dean of Student Services, and Executive Dean of the North County Campus and College Centers. During her tenure, she’s chaired and co-chaired many key college committees including the Planning and Budget Committee, the Educational Master Plan Committee, the Strategic Planning Committee and the Cultural Diversity Student Equity Committee. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from the University of California Santa Barbara and her Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.
Both McLaughlin and Wulff are expected to begin their appointments July 1, 2013.
