IMG_0425Cal Poly Arts presents an international guitar master and Celtic supergroup in two expansive evenings at the Performing Arts Center’s Cohan Center.

On Monday, Jan. 27, at 7:30 p.m., two-time Grammy nominee Tommy Emmanuel performs a solo evening of amazing artistry. One of Australia’s most respected musicians, with a professional career spanning five decades, Emmanuel has garnered hundreds of thousands of loyal fans worldwide.

Known for his distinctive “finger style,” Australia’s cultural icon plays the guitar the way a pianist plays piano – using all 10 fingers. Rather than relying on a whole band for melody, rhythm, bass and drums, Emmanuel plays all of those parts and more – on one guitar. The legendary Chet Atkins honored Emmanuel with the title of “Certified Guitar Player” for his contribution to guitar music, a very rare distinction shared by only four other people in the world.

“Run, do not walk, to a Tommy Emmanuel concert near you. True happiness is in tragically short supply right now all over the world, but you will definitely find it there.” – Cactus Cafe Review
