foodbankslocountylogoThe Food Bank Coalition’s 6th annual Hunger Walk will take place Saturday, Sept. 20 at our now single location in Morro Bay. Registration is now available through the Food Bank’s website, so sign-up and start gathering donations today! Join the fun, bring the family, form a team, all while helping people in your community who are in need. The Food Bank can provide $10 worth of food for every $1 you raise!

Your fundraising efforts for the Hunger Walk will directly help the 44,000 residents in San Luis Obispo County who live near or below the federal poverty income level and as a result battle hunger. Many are working adults who do not earn enough to make ends meet. Almost 40 percent of our hungry neighbors are children, and a large number are seniors who live on a fixed income. The Food Bank serves SLO residents in need of food through multiple direct programs such as, Healthy Food for Local Families and Lovin’ Lunchbox. We also provide access to free or low-cost food to a network of 225 non-profit agencies with food programs such as emergency food pantries, shelters, and senior programs.

“By getting sponsored to walk in our Hunger Walk fundraiser you are helping the fight against hunger and poor nutrition. Alleviating hunger is an investment in the quality of life and future of our community and world. Thank you for helping to make the lives of those we serve more successful.”  Said CEO, Carl Hansen.

Hunger hurts everyone. By joining the walk you are helping grateful neighbors across SLO county. Registration is easy! Just go to and click on the Hunger Walk icon on our homepage. If you have questions, please call the Food Bank Coalition at (805) 238-4664. We encourage you to start a team in order to multiply your fundraising potential and hope you will challenge others to do the same. If you would like to walk on behalf of an agency please contact them, or to simply help all agencies designate yourself to the Food Bank team. Together we build a healthier community!
