The San Luis Obispo Which Wich has teamed up with the Maxine Lewis Memorial Shelter to help feed area homeless through the 300-restaurant innovative sandwich leader’s national Project PB&J program. Following a one-for-one model and beginning on Sept. 29, 2014, the store will donate a PB&J sandwich to the shelter for every one sold in the store.
Teams from Which Wich will be delivering the PB&J sandwiches to the shelter, which provides emergency shelter and/or meals for 100-150 homeless individuals, 365 days a year. Approximately 10 percent of those are children under the age of 18. The shelter provides a refuge from those sleeping in cars or out in the elements, while also providing healthy meals and the support needed to help people rebuild their lives.
“At Which Wich, we pride ourselves on giving back to the community,” said Rahul Vinchhi, the San Luis Obispo Which Wich franchisee. “There are few causes more important than assisting homeless families and children in the area and we’re excited about the opportunity to assist the Maxine Lewis Memorial Shelter with the great work they’re doing to help those in need.”
Which Wich’s Project PB&J program aims to aid in the fight against hunger by allowing customers the chance to donate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to organizations in local communities who provide food for those in need.
