Hospice SLO County invites the public to honor the memories of loved ones during the 37th annual Light Up A Life remembrance ceremony. The community is invited to help shine a light either in person or virtually.
The remembrance ceremony will take place on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at the Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa. It will include music from the Threshold Singers, an inspirational message, the reading of names, candle lighting, and tree lighting on the Mission grounds. The ceremony will be held with appropriate physical distancing and require masks. If you are unable to physically participate, the ceremony will be live-streamed into the comfort of your home. The ceremony will be recorded for future viewings on Hospice SLO County’s website.
A special “Paws to Remember” ceremony in memory of lost pets will be held on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at 6 p.m. at the Hospice SLO County office located at 1304 Pacific Street in San Luis Obispo. The ceremony will be held with appropriate physical distancing, require masks, and will be live streamed. It will include music, an inspirational message, and the reading of names.
“Light Up A Life Remembrance Ceremonies offer a time to recall memories and celebrate loved ones,” says Shannon McOuat, Executive Director of Hospice SLO County. “These ceremonies bring comfort and healing to those dealing with a loss, especially during the holidays. The pandemic has precluded many from holding their own memorial services, so we are happy to offer this opportunity.”
The community is invited to participate by making a Light Up A Life donation in memory of a loved one or in honor of someone living. Loved ones names will be read at the ceremony and entered into the Remembrance Book. All donations are tax-deductible and support Hospice SLO County to ensure the best quality for those who seek their services.
