Downtown SLO invites the public to its 44th Annual Holiday Parade in Downtown San Luis Obispo on Friday, December 6, 2019 at 7 PM. This year’s parade theme is “Holidays Around the World.”
The parade features dozens of bright floats, festive marching bands, classic cars, creative entertainment, fire trucks, and, of course, Santa and Mrs. Claus. This beloved annual tradition is the largest parade on the Central Coast and attracts upwards of 10,000 spectators. This event is free, family-friendly, and open to the public. Announcers will be placed along the parade route, including bilingual (Spanish and English) announcers on Higuera in front of F.McLintocks.
Road Closures/No Parking Zones
“No parking” signs will be posted, and vehicles will be towed if left inside the road closure from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM on Friday, December 6, 2019. Road closures will be in effect from 4:30 PM until 10:00 PM on Friday, December 6, 2019. San Luis Obispo Police Department officers, Professional Security Personnel, and trained Barricade Monitors will be at affected intersections to ensure safety and provide motorists information. We ask that you drive SLOWLY as you move around downtown this day to ensure your safety as well as parade spectators and participants. Transportation
We encourage parade spectators to ride public transportation and walk to Downtown when possible. Public bus transportation will be running during the event but service routes and times may be affected. See www.SLOTransit.com for details on routes. Parking in the City parking structures on Palm Street and Marsh street is encouraged. A free bike valet will be offered in Mission Plaza provided by Bike SLO County.
