e-insiderThe filing deadline for the June 7 primary has passed and the list of candidates vying for national and countywide seats include newcomers as well as veterans, some up for reelection and some running for seats in higher office. California Attorney General Kamala Harris and U.S. Representative Loretta Sanchez are running against 30 other candidates for the U.S. Senator seat. Assemblyman Katcho Achadjian is running for the U.S. Representative 24th District seat against Salud Carbajal, Justin Fareed, Steve Isakson, Matt Kokkonen, Ben Lucas, William Ostrander, Helene Schneider and John Uebersax. The State Assembly 35th District race will pit Templeton businessman Jordan Cunningham against veteran and businessman Steve LeBard, solar project public affairs contractor Dawn Ortiz-Legg and farmer Dominic Rubini. Three county supervisor seats are up for grabs with: Dale Gustin, John Hamon Jr., Steven Martin and John Peschong in the running for the 1st District seat, SLO City Councilman Dan Carpenter challenging current supervisor Adam Hill and business owner Debbie Peterson for the 3rd District, and sitting 5th District Supervisor Debbie Arnold running against organic farmer Eric Michielssen.
