St Stephen’s Episcopal Church kicks off its Community Education Program on September 21 at 6.30pm with Money: Vision before Provision. Biz Steinberg of CAPSLO will draw us into conversation about how organizations should know what they want to achieve and
then find the resources to do it, rather than limit their vision by the resources they can only see at that moment.
This is the first of a nine session monthly program in which there will be presentations and discussions about the stewardship of money, the right use of our power in the community, and our femininity and masculinity. Each month, community leaders will engage us in new ways of thinking and talking about the three most influential aspects of our lives. Future sessions include:
October 19: Money: An Attitude of Abundance, Not Scarcity. Guest Speaker Heidi McPherson, CEO of the SLO County Community Foundation
November 16: Power & The Ballot Box. Guest Speaker TBA
December 14: Power & Humanity’s Entitlement Over Nature. Guest Speaker Hunter Francis, Director of the Cal Poly Center for Sustainability
Everyone is welcome. The parking lot and entrance to the hall are on Pismo Street between Broad and Nipomo Streets. A potluck follows the presentation and discussion. Feel free to dine with us whether or not you are able to contribute.
St Stephen’s’ mission is to open our hearts to God and to share Christ’s unconditional love with the world. We do this by following three pathways: Welcoming: We invite all to join us at every stage in their spiritual journeys. Worshiping: We cultivate a living tradition of liturgy and a life made holy by the sacraments. Working: We share our abundance, we strive for justice, and we accept our calling to protect God’s creation. Join us in our Mission! We worship together on Sundays at 8am and 10am, and Wednesdays at 12.15pm.
