Tuesdays with morrie slo little theatreThe San Luis Obispo Little Theatre is proud to present Mitch Albom’s Tuesdays with Morrie, written by Jeffrey Hatcher and Mitch Albom, and based on the best-selling book by Mitch Albom. Tuesdays with Morrie is the autobiographical story of Mitch Albom, an accomplished journalist driven solely by his career, and Morrie Schwartz, his former college professor. Sixteen years after graduation, Mitch happens to catch Morrie’s appearance on a television news program and learns that his old professor is battling Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Mitch is reunited with Morrie, and what starts as a simple visit turns into a weekly pilgrimage and a last class in the meaning of life. Tuesdays with Morrie runs September 23-October 9, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7 pm and Saturdays and Sundays at 2 pm. Tickets range from $15 to $32 and are available at slolittletheatre.org or by calling (805) 786-2440.

ABOUT THE SHOW:

“Unforgettable! No matter how well you tell the story, the play makes it more vivid, more shattering, more humorous.”
– NY Magazine
“Making the language of the book crisper, cleverer and more palatable…aphoristic wisdom, expressed with gallows wit.”
– NY Times

Reflections on life and death from Morrie Schwartz:

  • Seek the answers to eternal questions, but be prepared not to find them. Enjoy the search.
  • Accept the uncertainties, contradictions and tension of opposites in your life.
  • Entertain the thought and feeling that the distance between life and death may not be as great as you think.
  • Talk openly about your illness with whoever wants to talk with you about it.
  • After you have wept and grieved for your physical losses, cherish the functions and the life you have left.
  • Be grateful that you have been given the time to learn how to die.

The Little Theatre’s production of Tuesdays with Morrie is directed by Jody Hovland and features Tom Ammon as Morrie Schwartz and Bobby Kendrick as Mitch Albom. The show is generously sponsored by Marty Claus and Chip Visci and by Films for Good, Christine and Bob Williams.
