Cuesta 170Beginning Thursday, Dec. 5 at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo, women’s basketball teams from throughout California will contend for the title of champion at the Phillips 66 Santa Maria Refinery Cuesta College Women’s 2013 Basketball Tournament. This year, the annual event will run through Saturday, Dec. 7.

The tournament hosted by Cuesta will pit eight teams against one another. With electrifying action, fans will enjoy an exciting experience when these talented players take to the court and display their skill and agility as they compete for the top spot.

The tournament also treats fans to fun prizes and giveaways, including a chance to win free gas during the Phillips 66 halftime shootout. The Phillips 66 Santa Maria Refinery, who hosts the annual tournament, gives fans a chance to come down on the court and demonstrate their own skill as they shoot hoops to win up to $500 in Union 76 gas.

The participating schools include fellow Central Coast teams the Allan Hancock College Bulldogs of Santa Maria and the Hartnell College Panthers of Salinas. The Victor Valley College Rams, Orange Coast College Pirates and Pierce College Brahmas will travel from Southern California with Northern California teams the Las Positas College Hawks and Butte College Roadrunners rounding out the lineup.
