Promotional Coordination Committee Announces a Modified Cultural Grants-In-Aid Program

The City’s Promotional Coordinating Committee (PCC), an advisory body to the City Council to improve the quality of life for all residents and visitors, announced a new, modified 2020-21 Cultural Grants-in-Aid (GIA) program to support events and activities managed by local non-profit organizations.  Due to COVID-19 and the restrictions on group gatherings, the PCC has temporarily modified the standard annual program to provide for virtual and passive events.   Throughout the 2020-21 fiscal year, applications for the program will be accepted and considered by the PCC on a monthly basis.  Applications will be reviewed and awarded in accordance with the criteria outlined in the program specifications, and at the discretion of the PCC.

Program Details

GIA funds are to be used for the production and marketing expenses related to the execution of an event or activity of cultural, social, and/or recreational benefit to the residents of the City of San Luis Obispo. The funding amount per grant award will be fixed per application and the program will be discontinued once the funding has been exhausted. Based on the program budget of $100,000, there is a total of 40 grants available at the funding level of $2,500 each. Grants are not given for expenses including office overhead, staff salary, equipment, scholarships / honoraria, or general organization operating expenses. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis throughout the fiscal year, due by 12:00 noon on the 1st day of each month until the maximum number grants available have been awarded.

To be considered for a grant, organizations must submit a digital application that can be found at slocity.org/CulturalGIA. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
