A new extended-stay hotel is in the works on Calle Joaquin, just off the Highway 101/Los Osos Valley Road interchange. The 116 room TownePlace Suites by Marriott will include a pool, patio and fitness center. The project began the architectural review process earlier this month and will require approval of a rezone by the city’s Planning Commission. If approved, this would be the sixth hotel in the area, joining the Courtyard Marriot, Hampton Inn and Suites, two Motel 6 properties and Rose Garden Inn. On the other side of SLO, plans for a brewery at 163 Suburban Road have been submitted by Earthwood Lane LLC. The 6,335 sq. ft. brewery and tasting room would be accompanied by a separate light manufacturing and warehouse building. This project would continue the trend of breweries and tasting rooms located in traditionally more industrial parts of the county.
