On Thursday, March 23, the San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce took a group of local business leaders, City Council members and city staff on a tour of the construction site of the new San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport terminal.

The new $35.4 million terminal is slated to open to the public by early fall 2017 and will offer more ticket counter space and screening lanes, as well as a larger arrivals area and more seating space.

With 56,000 square feet of space, up from 12,500 square feet at the current terminal, the terminal will be able to handle more frequent flights and larger aircraft.

Hosted by ACI Jet, the tour included a walk through of the new terminal, gardens, and passenger waiting area, as well as presentation from Alaska Airlines.

ACI Jet is a local aviation consulting and management firm that employs more than 107 in San Luis Obispo.

The tour was part of the Chamber’s Business Visit program which invites local elected officials, government staff and community stakeholders on a tour of a member business.

The program connects Chamber members with the influencers and decision makers in the community to discuss timely issues related to doing business in San Luis Obispo and share perspectives on elevating the local environment in order to support business success.
