The Association of Fundraising Professionals San Luis Obispo County Chapter (AFP SLO) will be hosting Vu Le (pronounced “voo lay”) as its keynote speaker at the sixth annual celebration of National Philanthropy Day (NPD). Le is an internationally known speaker whose presentation, ‘Unlocking Fundraisers’ Power to Advance an Equitable Society,” will address the importance of diversity, equality and inclusion, and how nonprofit organizations can integrate these guiding principles into their fundraising efforts.

This year’s event will be virtual and LIVE on Zoom, Thursday, November 12, 2020 from 12:00-1:00 p.m. The event is free to attend with registration. For more information, visit www.afpsloco.org or click here.

Le is an internationally-known nonprofit leader and speaker who will address the critical role of fundraising in sustaining so many vital organizations and services during the pandemic. As society grapples with COVID and confronts systemic racism, nonprofit programs and services are more needed than ever. Vu Le is known for his honest, thought-provoking, fun, and maybe slightly uncomfortable conversation. He brings humor, insight, and wacky stories to every keynote while making each one unique to the audience.

The event also features a special video created to celebrate the impact of philanthropy on the collective of non-profits in San Luis Obispo County. The video is made possible by in-kind support from Cal Poly University Development and Alumni Engagement.

For the third year in a row, The Community Foundation San Luis Obispo County is the Premier Sponsor of the AFP SLO NPD celebration. Netzel Grigsby Associates is also a sponsor.

“National Philanthropy Day is an excellent opportunity to acknowledge the work of fundraising professionals and generous donors who make an impact every day in our community,” said AFP SLO Board President, Debby Nicklas.

Last year, more than 130 AFP chapters held NPD events and activities across North America. NPD is a special day in November to recognize and pay tribute to the great contributions that philanthropy makes to our society and our world.
