SLO BluesWith every season players come and players go. This season is no exception. The 2014 season appears very promising for the San Luis Obispo Blues. This year’s roster is made up of 40 collegiate players from 18 different schools from such elite conferences as Sunbelt, Big 12, Big 10 and Big West.

Highlighting the 2014 Blues lineup is left handed pitcher Octavio Rodriguez. Rodriguez was picked in the 33rd round by the Chicago White Sox in 2013. He is currently attending University of Oklahoma after graduating high school in 2013 with impressive credentials. During high school Rodriguez earned four letters, was named Collegiate Baseball All-El Paso 2013 Pitcher of the Year with over 200 strike outs, 2013 All-State Pitcher of the Year, and 2012-2013 Perfect Game All-American batting .446.

Fellow pitcher Dakota Hudson will also contribute to the Blues pitching staff this season. As a right handed pitcher he was selected in the 36th round by the Texas Rangers in 2013. During high school Hudson possessed a 95 MPH fastball with impressive ERAs as a pitcher. His sophomore year he earned an ERA of 1.90, junior year 1.24, and finished his senior year with 1.09.

A clutch hitter for the Blues will be infielder Sheldon Neuse who also was drafted in 2013 in the 38th round by the Texas Rangers. Neuse will be a sophomore at University of Oklahoma starting in September of 2014. Over the course of his high school career Neuse hit 30 home runs.

These are only three of the many impressive players representing the 2014 Blues roster. This year you are sure to see incredible up and coming baseball talent playing for the Blues.

Although their roster is not lacking, the need for Host Families is. To ensure that these players have a positive experience on the Central Coast, Host Families have become a crucial part of the Blues Organization.
