Cal Poly’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will virtually host six brilliant tech-driven startups from our region in a pitch competition to win up to $100,000 in equity-backed funding at the third annual AngelCon 2020 on Tuesday, June 30th at 4 p.m.
AngelCon 2020 has shifted from live to virtual in response to COVID-19 and the California stay-at-home order. The event will continue to incorporate local venue SLO Brew Rock, as a filming location for the startup pitches.
“A virtual AngelCon is an amazing opportunity to provide access to so many more people than a physical event would have allowed for,” said Judy Mahan, Cal Poly CIE SBDC economic director.
“Our original event was physically limited to 250 attendees; by going virtual, we can now host an unlimited number of guests world-wide! Our online event will be extremely interactive, with plenty of opportunities for audience participation and networking; we are excited to be creating new outcomes for our audience and startups through this online version,” Mahan went on to say.
At this unprecedented conference, the chosen finalists will pitch to angel investors. The investors will vote and invest $100,000 in the winner. The funding that AngelCon provides for the winning startup supports the business to continue growing on the Central Coast.
AngelCon 2020 is presented by Pacific Premier Bank. The event will stream on YouTube live. Attendees can purchase tickets for $10 on Eventbrite at bit.ly/angelcon (one ticket per registrant). Visit the event’s website at bit.ly/sbdcangelcon for more information.
