george saundersOn Saturday, September 30, 2017, 8:00 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center, Cal Poly Arts presents celebrated best-selling author George Saunders.

A prolific writer, Saunders’ long-awaited novel and most recent book, “Lincoln in the Bardo,” was published earlier this year and became a #1 New York Times bestseller. The popular audiobook features no less than 166 narrators and celebrities reading from the book: Nick Offerman, David Sedaris, Lena Dunham, Ben Stiller, Susan Sarandon, Megan Mullally and Don Cheadle are among the celebrities who have all lent their voices to narrate the story about Abraham Lincoln mourning his son Willie in a graveyard full of ghosts.

Saunders is also the author for collections of short stories, a novella, and a book of essays. His collection, “Tenth December,” was the winner of the 2014 Story Prize and the 2014 Folio Prize. The recipient of a 2006 MacArthur Foundation Genius grant, his work appears regularly in The New Yorker, GQ, and Harper’s Magazine, and has appeared in the O’Henry, Best American Short Story, Best Non-Required Reading and Best American Travel Writing anthologies. He is the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship and was named one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World by TIME Magazine in 2013.
