Tenet Health Central Coast wants to make sure that cancer survivors and their families are not alone in their journey and will be hosting a Cancer Survivor Resource Fair at Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on June 3, 2023. The event is free and open to everyone regardless if a person is a patient with Tenet Health or not. Registration is appreciated, although walk-ins are welcome, and a free picnic/box lunch will be provided for the first 50 attendees.
Participants will have the opportunity to speak with expert Sierra Vista staff and representatives from local community organizations that support, educate and provide services to cancer patients and survivors.
The event starts at 10:00 a.m. with speakers presenting on several topics:
11:00 a.m. – Mindful Acceptance Practices
12:00 p.m. – Patient Survival Story
1:00 p.m. – Who will Speak for You?
Also included are resources directed at advocating and assisting families with children that have or have had cancer. This includes organizations that help families become aware of potential treatments that may not be commonly known, especially in cases of relapse, potential financial assistance programs, educational support, emotional support and even activities such as surfing or “Victory Trip” vacations to help young people and their families deal with the stress of a family member with cancer. To make things easier for parents, Camp Kesem will be at the fair to host a “Kids Craft Corner” for children so that parents can take advantage of the Fair resources.
