The City of San Luis Obispo will host a virtual community event – Stories of a Resilient SLO – on January 28, 2021. The event will highlight opportunities for community resilience and provide information on local climate risks. The event is part of the Resilient SLO project, an initiative to prepare our community for the impacts of climate change. Those interested should register in advance here.

The project team is also collecting Stories of Resilience from community members to understand our City’s inherent strengths and resilience in overcoming past challenges. Stories in all forms will be accepted – text, audio, video, and even social media posts with the #SLOStoriesofResilience hashtag. Learn how to submit your story here.

Featured speakers will include:

  • Heidi Harmon, Mayor of the City of San Luis Obispo
  • John Lindsey, Marine Meteorologist for Pacific Gas and Electric
  • Beya Makekau, Director of Student Diversity and Belonging at Cal Poly
  • Chris Read, City of San Luis Obispo Sustainability Manager

The event will be an opportunity to meet the Resilient SLO project team who will provide the initial project findings, answer questions, and highlight opportunities for community feedback.
