The City of San Luis Obispo is accepting applications for five voluntary positions on several public advisory bodies that each serve an important role in advising City Council and City staff on a variety of issues. Once volunteers are selected and approved by City Council, the term of service will begin. Service terms vary in length depending on the particular opening. The City’s advisory bodies are made up of volunteers that advise staff and the City Council on matters that affect current public policy and issues that will impact the future of the San Luis Obispo community. Positions are available on the following advisory bodies:

Administrative Review Board – serves as the final decision maker for the City on administrative appeal hearings relating to administrative citations issued for certain contested San Luis Obispo Municipal Code enforcement matters that require a more detailed administrative record. One position available.

Construction Board of Appeals – hears and decides appeals of orders, decisions, and determinations made by the building official relative to the applications and interpretations of various technical codes. One position for a representative of the disabled community is available.

Jack House Committee – assists in the administration and restoration of the historic Jack House residence at 536 Marsh Street. One position for a representative of the Cal Poly faculty (current or retired) with a specialty in horticulture or landscape architecture.

Personnel Board – provides a forum for airing both sides of unresolved employee grievances and disciplinary matters with its recommendations forwarded to the City Council. One position available.

Zone 9 Advisory Committee of the SLO County Flood Control and Water Conservation District – assists in determining the needs, desires, and financial capabilities of property owners in Zone 9 and recommends specific programs to alleviate and control flood damage, with recognition of the ecological and aesthetic values of the programs. One position available.
